I am in love with low tide,
the slipping back ocean cover
airing out the swingers of the coastal edge.
The plump, tangled starfish seem especially exposed.
I know I should not touch, but my finger reaches
and strokes, looking for soft like a slick thigh,
and is surprised by the cool, rigid shell.

and where is it that you found these beauties?
ReplyDeleteI like high tide.
ReplyDeleteHigh tide is like a good night's sleep.
It cleanses whatever mess I've left,
The detritus of the day,
Washed away,
Leaving only the rigid shell of my life,
To fill once more when the tide washes out.
Jim--I love it. Thank you! Shawn--near Cape Perpetua, I think, along the Oregon Coast. Beautiful area.
